Damage

I am the broken bones,

In a suitcase you left,

At the lost and found baggage stop.

The name-tag on the toe,

Of a body of words,

You’ll never read.

The swollen face,

That stares back at you,

When you close your eyes at night.

I’m a shadow of the sun,

The blackened-out space,

Behind your smile.
