The Collector

As a kid, I collected things,

Novelty erasers,

Seashells, stickers,

Plastic jewellery, Marbles,

Foreign coins from dad’s trips abroad,

Autumn leaves in the brightest colours I could find,

Feathers I found on walks in the countryside,

Potato print stamps,

They’d gone mouldy in a box,

By the time mum found them.

I’m forty-one.

I still have my erasers,

I still have my marbles.
