Shoe Gazing

I stare at my feet as I walk,

Making sure not to stand on the cracks,

To ensure my feet fall, just so,

That my boots don’t scrape lazily across the pavement,

My heels don’t scuff against the curb,

So, I don’t fall into the gutter or get stuck in a drain grate and,

I don’t twist my ankle or lose my footing,

So, I avoid stepping on your toes, by looking you in the eye.
